Gurgaon, Haryana September 22, 2023: Flipkart, India's homegrown e-commerce marketplace, marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for its upcoming Regional Distribution Center (RDC) in Manesar. Further cementing its supply chain infrastructure in Haryana, Flipkart has launched a new grocery fulfillment center (FC) in Sonipat. These investments signify a commitment to infrastructure development, enhancing supply chain efficiency, and creating large-scale employment opportunities in the state.

Manesar RDC Details

The RDC in Manesar is one of India's largest state-of-the-art facilities, spread over 140 acres.

Job Creation: It will create over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Products: It is expected to cater to a wide range of products, including parcel goods, white goods, and furniture.

Technology: The facility will feature best-in-class automation and retrieval systems, including Automated Conveyors, Automatic Storage and Retrieval, Powered Spiral Conveyors and Automatic Sortation Systems.

Sustainability: The RDC has received Platinum pre-certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). It incorporates features like rainwater harvesting, hardwood green spaces, and the capacity to generate up to 20MWp of solar energy.

Sonipat Grocery FC Details

The launch of the grocery FC in Sonipat marks the expansion of Flipkart's network, complementing existing facilities in Ballabgarh, Rewari, and Tauru.

Size & Capacity: Spanning 1.29 lakh sq. ft, the Sonipat FC has an impressive dispatch capacity of 23,000 orders per day (approx. 2.9 lakh units daily), accommodating around 40 lakh units.

Job Creation: It will create close to 2,000 direct and indirect job opportunities.

Service Area: It will serve over 150 pin codes, including key regions such as Chattarpur, Meerut, Panipat, Rohtak and Wazirpur.

The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr. Manohar Lal, said, "Haryana is emerging as a manufacturing hub, and I am pleased that Flipkart has made such a significant investment here... This regional distribution center will provide direct and indirect employment opportunities for 10,000 people. Similarly, Flipkart's new grocery supply center in Sonipat will create approximately 2,000 direct and indirect job opportunities. This will also enable thousands of local sellers, MSMEs, and farmers to reach markets across the country.". He also noted that the Flipkart group has generated more than 95,000 local jobs in Haryana and supported self-help groups and women entrepreneurs.
